SALT LAKE CITY, UT — An 18-year-old man hiding in a bakery's dough-mixing machine was crushed to death because his friends accidentally turned on the equipment, police said.

Jeffery Matthew Tilt of Murray was reportedly hiding from his friends inside a mixer at Sorority Bakery, police said Sunday.

His friends accidentally activated the machine's blades.

Investigators said Tilt reportedly called to his friends to activate an electronic door lock to let him out in the incident Saturday. But they accidentally activated the machine's mixing blades, which crushed the man.
